Biographical History |
Stephen Vail (1780-1864), son of farmer Davis Vail and Hannah Moore, was a successful businessman, skilled mechanic, inventor, farmer, and benefactor to churches, Jacksonian Democrat, promoter of early railroads, landowner, and enslaver. Stephen also served as Justice of the Peace and a lay judge in the Court of Common Pleas. Died July 12, 1864 at 84 years. |
