Wedding dress, tan with stripes in two pieces (bodice and skirt) with lace overlay for skirt. Silk Bodice with Cotton lining. Hand sewn. Beige Ground with Black Strip and Pink Herring Bone Stripe. Leg-O-Mutton Sleeves. 3 Sets of two pleats each on each side of center front. Self ruching across front. Self piping at all seams. Stitched down pleated and wrist. Self-ruching above elbow. Hook and eye closures. 7 original, 3 modern, 1 missing hooks; 8 original, 2 modern, 1 missing eyes. |

It was the dress of Mary Wilkinson at her marraige to Thomas Bell in June 1843. The silk was brought from Liverpool and in 1842 or earlier thomas Bell was a sea captain. |
