Made on Davis Vail's Farm in Lttleton, Davis was Stephen Vail's father. See Primary Document File under Harriet B.V. C. Lidgerwood for letter referring to the coverlet May 30, 1895. Mentioned in a letter written by Harriet Bethiah Vail Cutler Lidgerwood. Given to her by her mother Sarah Vail Cutler. "I told you of the "summer and winter coverlet" which my dear mother gave me, made entirely on the old Vail farm in Littleton""the coverlet was made of wool from Grandpa Vail's own sheep and was spun dyed and woven on the place. "mother never remembered the weaving of it" The letter is written to Dear Hattie a cousin. Original is located in the Stephen Vail Papers, Box 4, Folder 19. |
